Audiobooks of The Mesmerist Series are Live!
Two of the novels in my Mesmerist series of books are live and available for purchase in the Apple audiobooks store! These are the seventh and eighth books of mine to go live for readers who prefer to consume books that way. They are also the fourth and fifth novels of mine to become an audiobook.
You can learn more about the first two books in the series, The Mesmerist and Ear of God, right here.
In a nutshell, this is a thriller series that focuses primarily on psychic phenomena. An FBI agent and a New York City cop team up to investigate strange cases that have no conventional solutions. It’s basically my take on the occult detective genre. Part detective fiction, part urban fantasy. A strange little subgenre that (unfortunately) doesn’t fit comfortably into any of the main genres—mystery, SFF, horror.
You can pick up the audiobook versions for a very reasonable $4.99 each right here:

The first book clocks in at 9 hours, the second at 7 hours.
The first was inspired by the strange books my father used to read when I was kid. The second was inspired by my long history with upstate New York. While The Mesmerist garnered some attention in the form of reviews and social media notice when it first pubbed during the Golden Age of Self-Publishing, I never really talked much about Ear of God. I released it somewhat quietly at the end of 2020.
The book tells the story of a psychic child who has the ability to summon Biblical plagues when he becomes stressed or terrified. Probably not the greatest plotline for a book released in the middle of a pandemic, so I didn’t dwell long on promoting the release. I just wanted the book out, for my own sense of completion and satisfaction. But I am proud of it. I think it’s a tight story that delivers on the promise of a good, strange thriller.
It’s also a book that plays really well with the AI software that generated the audiobook. No fancy foreign phrases to confuse the robot! And yes, in case you missed my earlier posts on this topic, bear in mind that both of these new audiobooks feature AI digital narration. The voices of the narrators were fully licensed from human narrators by Apple. And by and large, they are a great way to listen to these books at an unbeatable price.
If you are interested in audiobooks, I hope you’ll check out the current crop that I currently have available—Murder on Book Row, Jersey Heat, Arm of Darkness, Sorceress Kringle, and now The Mesmerist and Ear of God—if you find their content (and price points) attractive. Only available on Apple and via the Overdrive system in libraries.
